Netflix says 'Netflix is no longer available on this device.'

If you get error code R4, R12, or R25-1, or one of the messages in the boxes below, it means that your device can no longer or won't be able to support Netflix after a certain date. Please note, this error is related to your device. Your Netflix account and membership have not changed.

You can still enjoy Netflix on a variety of supported devices.

If you have a streaming stick, cable box, or game console that connects to your TV with an HDMI cable, check to see if it has a Netflix app. ​

We’re always working to provide a consistent, high-quality, and secure Netflix experience. If a device can no longer get necessary updates from its manufacturer or support new features, we may end support for it.

Customers on an ad-supported Netflix plan won't be able to cast to a TV from a mobile device.

You can use your phone or tablet to watch Netflix on your TV using a video cable/adapter or casting Netflix to a TV that supports Chromecast, Miracast, or 2nd screen. To see if your TV supports casting, check the device manual or contact the manufacturer.

If your device is no longer supported by Netflix and you plan to stop using it, consider repurposing, refurbishing, or recycling it:

  • Repurpose: You can reuse your device for other screen-based activities or donate it to a local organization.

  • Refurbish or Recycle: Check if the device retailer/manufacturer offers a trade-in or recycling program. If not, recycle your device at a nearby e-waste or electronics recycling facility.

    For your privacy and security, we strongly recommend that you factory reset or delete personal data from your device before donating or trading it in. To learn how to reset your device, check the device manual or contact the company that made it.
